PlayStation has quietly launched its 2025 Advent Calendar program on its official website. This new program offers a 24-day event period for gamers to win prizes and various surprises. Participants simply log in and register once to be eligible for a chance to win prizes. Users can earn raffle entries and access various digital gifts by watching ads every day until December 24, 2025.

Users who collect tickets by watching ads can also earn free PSN avatars during this process. However, a close examination of the shared images clearly reveals that these avatars are generated by artificial intelligence. It’s particularly striking that the Japanese-like characters in the background of the “Neon Brawler” avatar are actually random symbols with no language equivalent. This suggests that the images were generated by artificial intelligence tools rather than by a professional designer.
This isn’t the first AI controversy in the PlayStation ecosystem. A few months ago, the release of games using explicit AI content on the PlayStation Store was criticized on social media. Simple, typical AI-generated errors, such as the incorrect number of fingers on characters’ hands, have been detected in store images for games like Brainrot: Fighting. Players have questioned Sony’s quality control processes for this reason.
Similar errors aren’t limited to Sony. Recently, Xbox Development Lead Mike Matsel used an incorrect AI-generated image in a job posting. The image depicted a person working, but obvious logical errors, such as the monitor on the desk reflecting the screen image from its rear case, were noticeable. Such errors have led to criticism that major companies are using AI in their content creation without due diligence.
